Changing Your Expired Password in Windows

When you log into Windows and receive a message that your password has expired, you must change it. To change your password at that time:

    1. Follow the guidelines below for each of the three fields:

      User Name:
      This must not be changed.

      Log on To:
      This must not be changed.

Old Password:
This is the password you just used to log into the network.

New Password:
This password must meet the following guidelines to be accepted:

  1. Must be at least 10 characters long
  2. Must contain characters from at least three of the following four categories:
    1. English uppercase characters (A – Z)
    2. English lowercase characters (a – z)
    3. Base 10 digits (0 – 9)
    4. Non-alphanumeric (!, %)
  3. Must not contain any of the following non-alphanumeric characters: @ $ & ( ) # ; / , < > ` = and <space>
  4. Must not contain three or more characters from the user’s name. (For example, you cannot be named John Doe and use John or Doe or JohnDoe in your password.)

Confirm New Password:
Retype the password you entered for New Password.

  1. Click OK and you will see a message notifying you that your password has been changed.

If you cannot successfully change your password, you will need to contact the ISS Help Desk and they will assist you.
