The ANR Department\u2019s curriculum provides all students with a sound foundation in ANR. It also provides flexible options to pursue training in particular areas of interest. The curriculum\u00a0consists of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>introductory courses that cover\u00a0general concepts in depth<\/li>\n<li>interrelationships in ANR<\/li>\n<li>more specialized electives that allow students to pursue particular areas of interest. These areas include\u00a0plant and soil sciences, animal science\u00a0and natural resources management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ANR curriculum ensures that graduates know and understand scientific facts and principles regarding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>soils,<\/li>\n<li>plants,<\/li>\n<li>animals,<\/li>\n<li>economics, and<\/li>\n<li>ecology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Students will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Know and understand scientific facts and principles pertaining to soils, plants, animals, economics, and ecology.<\/li>\n<li>Have the ability to apply those facts and principles to the management of agriculture and natural resources systems.<\/li>\n<li>Understand agriculture and natural resources within the broader societal contexts of culture, ecology, economics, politics, and history, as well as from different perspectives.<\/li>\n<li>Be capable of studying and analyzing agricultural and natural-resource production systems to address problems or questions using appropriate scientific methods of planning, data collection, quantitative analysis, and, presentation.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to locate, interpret, critically evaluate, synthesize, and present information through writing and speech.<\/li>\n<li>Be able to apply appropriate technology for managing agriculture and natural resources<\/li>\n<li>Examine and prepare for career opportunities in agriculture and natural resources, including graduate education.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ANR majors can gain unique practical experience working on the College\u2019s educational farm. This includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>beef cattle<\/li>\n<li>hogs<\/li>\n<li>poultry<\/li>\n<li>aquaculture<\/li>\n<li>field crops<\/li>\n<li>horticulture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The work experience gained from the College Farm complements classroom learning.
