You and the professor will develop the service-learning project together. Students will then begin to fulfill the said project<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Will work on service-learning projects usually lasting no longer than one term (or semester)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Often (but not always) work in groups to complete service-learning projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contact <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/celts\/about-us\/our-staff\/ashley-cochrane\/\">Ashley Cochrane<\/a> for more information about how to get involved with service-learning.<\/p>\n<h2>Labor Program<\/h2>\n<p>Students who work with your organization through the\u00a0<em>labor program<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Usually have a labor position with your organization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Work around 10 hours, weekly, like all Berea College students who must have a paid labor position. Most of these labor positions are on campus at Berea College. Some community organizations may host positions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Will likely require you to have contact with the Labor Department or with the CELTS staff person. They are doing so outside of their regular academic coursework and labor position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>May volunteer for a one-day service event. They may also become long-term, regular volunteers with your organization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>May volunteer with your organization through:\n<ul>\n<li>a student-led service program (example: People Who Care)<\/li>\n<li>residence hall<\/li>\n<li>another on-campus organization (example: Black Cultural Center)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contact <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/celts\/about-us\/our-staff\/sarah-rohrer\/\">Sarah Rohrer<\/a> for more information on how to get involved with the CELTS Community Service Programs.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to know whether the students you are working with are service-learning students, labor students or volunteers. What is required of the students and the community partner organization will be very different for each of these categories.
