Some funds can be used for programs anywhere in the world, while others are specific to a region or country. Some scholarships are applicable only to a semester abroad, while others may be available for summer. Finally, some providers offer scholarships to participants in their programs. Please check out every possible option right away.<\/p>\n<h2>Worldwide<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Fund for Education Abroad [external link]\" href=\"http:\/\/www.fundforeducationabroad.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Fund for Education Abroad<\/a> Up to $10,000. Deadlines: mid-January for Summer, Fall Semester; early September deadline for Spring Semester<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship [external link]\" href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/cie\/benjamin-gilman-scholarship\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship<\/a> Up to $5,000! Their new deadlines give you two shots at every season:\n<ul>\n<li>Cycle 2: Early March (Summer, Fall, Winter, and the following Spring)<\/li>\n<li>Cycle 1: Early October (Spring, Summer, and the following Fall)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant [external link]\" href=\"http:\/\/www.phikappaphi.org\/grants-awards\/study-abroad#.VEFps1fLmoo\" rel=\"noopener\">Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad Grant<\/a> $1,000 grants for students with 3.75 GPA or higher. Deadline is typically in March for next calendar year, but they are currently on hiatus due to COVID-19 so keep checking back for new deadlines.<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"National Security Education Program Boren Scholarship [external link]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.borenawards.org\/boren_scholarship\/basics.html\" rel=\"noopener\">National Security Education Program Boren Scholarship<\/a> Up to $20,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests. Deadline: Apply by February 3 through <a href=\"mailto:ann_butwell@berea.edu\">ann_butwell@berea.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rainbowsig.org\/rainbow-scholarship\/\">Rainbow Scholarship<\/a> Deadline: noon January 20 for Summer, Fall Semester; early September deadline for Spring Semester<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/studyabroad.state.gov\/us-government-scholarships-and-programs\/us-college-and-university-students\">List of scholarships for US College and University students<\/a>\u00a0(has a good list of government-sponsored scholarships!)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Louisville Scholarship for Summer<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldkentucky.org\/hershberg-scholarship\">Hershberg Scholarship<\/a> If you are from Louisville, KY or surrounding counties and are interested in studying abroad for a summer term, you may be eligible to apply for the Hershberg Scholarship of at least $2,000! Deadline: February 2022, for Summer 2022 (Not awarding this summer)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Region-specific Scholarships<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a title=\"Bridging Scholarship\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aatj.org\/studyabroad\/japan-bridging-scholarships\">Bridging Scholarship<\/a> \u00a0(Japan) Deadline for Fall: early April<\/li>\n<li><a title=\"Freeman-ASIA [external link]\" href=\"http:\/\/www.iie.org\/freeman-asia\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Freeman-ASIA<\/a> \u00a0(East and Southeast Asia) Up to $7,000!
