The program is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries. To that end, the Fulbright US Student Program provides recent college graduates with opportunities for personal and career development and international experience.<sup>*<\/sup><\/p>\n<p>Fulbright US Student Program offers a variety of grants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>One academic year of graduate study or research in over 140 countries around the world<\/li>\n<li>English Teaching Assistantships (ETA) are awarded in dozens of countries<\/li>\n<li>Special programs such as the Fulbright\/mtvU Awards for research focusing on contemporary or popular music as a cultural force for expression<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grant opportunities may vary considerably by country\u2014for example, some may have a language requirement or restrictions on the field of study, and English Teaching Assistantships and special programs are available only in selected locations. Therefore, it is crucial to review the <a href=\"http:\/\/us.fulbrightonline.org\/program_regions_world.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Country Summary<\/a> for your intended destination <em>before you apply<\/em> to ensure that your goals and background match the Fulbright Program for that country.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Candidates for the Fulbright US Student Program must first complete the campus review process, which includes an online application and an interview with the Berea External Scholarships Committee.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_btn title=&#8221;Apply Now&#8221; color=&#8221;primary&#8221; align=&#8221;center&#8221; link=&#8221;url:https%3A%2F%2Fus.fulbrightonline.org%2Fapplicants%2Fgetting-started|||&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An <strong>application checklist and detailed instructions<\/strong> are posted on the Fulbright website.\u00a0<em>Reading this guidance before starting your application will answer many of your questions and minimize frustration.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Applications must be submitted by the <strong>campus deadline<\/strong>\u00a0on <strong>September 15\u00a0<\/strong>(if the deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, applications will be due the next business day). <em>Applicants who miss the campus deadline will not be recommended for consideration by the Fulbright Program.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Did you know?<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Fulbright Program was established in 1946 by the US Congress and named after Senator J.
