This is the\u00a0campus\u00a0update for\u00a0Monday,\u00a0October\u00a018, 2021.<\/p>\n
We continue to have no on-campus students in any sort of quarantine; well done students!<\/p>\n
As to on-campus employees, we have one quarantine in Facilities based on a positive test that ends tomorrow.\u00a0 We also found, after the fact, that a faculty member in Danforth Technology had tested positive; that quarantine ended today.\u00a0 We also have one Edwards staff member in close contact quarantine.\u00a0 We also have one PFE employee who does not work on campus who has tested positive; that quarantine will extend throughout this week.<\/p>\n
Our overall employee vaccination percentage remains at 90%, and, for non-PFE employees, our percentage again rounds to 92%.\u00a0\u00a0Let\u2019s keep going; we can continue to improve<\/strong>!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Declining case numbers continue in our county and state.\u00a0 Madison County had a total of\u00a0246 new cases for the week ending yesterday.\u00a0 This is down by 115 from last week and\u00a0lowers\u00a0the average number of new cases per day to\u00a035.\u00a0 We are still far into the\u00a0Red Zone<\/strong>, now at about\u00a045\u00a0cases per day per 100,000 persons.\u00a0 The department also reports that at this point 50.6% of county residents have been fully vaccinated, up by\u00a00.5% from last week.\u00a0 The state has reported another death in our county, which brings the total to 145.<\/p>\n Kentucky reported 12,221\u00a0new cases for the\u00a0week\u00a0ending today for an average of\u00a01,746\u00a0cases\/day,\u00a0down by about 16%\u00a0from last week\u2019s number.\u00a0 The Commonwealth has reported\u00a0246 deaths over the last\u00a0week\u00a0for an average number of deaths\/day of\u00a035.\u00a0\u00a0This number represents no change from last week, but the latest\u00a0test positivity rate\u00a0has decreased to 7.36%.\u00a0\u00a0We continue to be heading in the right direction, but gradually.<\/p>\n Dear Berea Family,<\/p>\n We invite you to join us on October 21st\u00a0at noon for the dedication service of the labyrinth and the new memorial sculpture.\u00a0 The memorial sculpture provides a physical, tangible way for us to celebrate and remember students, faculty, and staff who die while they are studying or working here.\u00a0 The names currently on the memorial go back to 2012, the beginning of President Roelofs\u2019 presidency.\u00a0 The memorial\/labyrinth area will be used as a sacred gathering place for vigils, memorials, and individual quiet reflection.<\/p>\n Please join us for the dedication of this sacred space on October 21st\u00a0at 12:00 pm.\u00a0 The location is between Hutchins Library and the Rogers-Traylor Art building.<\/p>\nKentucky and Madison County update<\/h2>\n
