Students learn of internships through announcements from the Berea College\u00a0Office of Internships and Career Development<\/strong>, and the Economics and Business Department. Students also find internship opportunities on their own through family and friends, professional acquaintances, and internet sources.<\/p>\n

Students participate in the summer internship program by working for businesses, nonprofits, and governmental entities, usually within their academic discipline, providing exposure to the various dimensions of work that is likely to be encountered in the profession.\u00a0 The summer program requires\u00a0ten weeks of 40 hours a week<\/strong>\u00a0of work, a daily journal, an academic paper, and an oral presentation about the student\u2019s experience when back on campus.<\/p>\n

The Department\u2019s internships are funded through the\u00a0Raymond E.<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Margaret E. Mason Endowment for Economics and Business Internships<\/strong>.\u00a0 Students are paid for their work and are supported for room and board and travel expenses.\u00a0 They receive\u00a0one Business or Economics credit<\/strong>\u00a0for the successful completion of the course.[\/vc_cta][vc_images_carousel images=”363,366,364,365″ img_size=”full” speed=”2500″ autoplay=”yes”][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Independent Studies” tab_id=”1643997527910-d3fccf7d-9c1e”][vc_cta h2=”Independent Studies”]Independent studies allow you to study topics that are not part of the regular curriculum.
