{"id":106,"date":"2016-04-12T18:28:22","date_gmt":"2016-04-12T18:28:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.berea.edu\/ira\/?page_id=106"},"modified":"2019-09-12T10:32:06","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T14:32:06","slug":"labor-team-tech-tips-project","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/ira\/labor-team-tech-tips-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Labor Team Technology Tips"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We believe professional development is necessary and important to all staff including student workers.\u00a0 Therefore, we ask our Labor students to create annual personal professional development plans.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in Fall 2015, we implemented a specific professional development project designed to develop the students\u2019 technical knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Each week using labor time, one of the students researches and creates instructions for a \u201cTech Tip.\u201d These tips are then presented and discussed at weekly meeting of other Labor students and office staff where they are further developed.<\/p>\n<p>These tips are designed to improve:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the efficiency of office work as well as enhance the students\u2019 own academic work<\/li>\n<li>the students\u2019 presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>the students\u2019 organization skills \u2013 a searchable table of contents with instructions are created for each Office Program<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have included the \u201cTech Tips\u201d that have been created (below) and these will be updated on a weekly basis.\u00a0 Please feel free to share with others on campus.
