8th-Grader Spearheads Efforts to Help Students Feel Safe, Secure<\/a><\/h2>\n

Pike County native Kaylee Ray has always been eager to make a difference in her community. As she started eighth-grade at Valley Elementary School, GEAR UP student leadership coordinator Missy Spangler offered her the perfect project to do that \u2013 an initiative to bridge the gap between all students and create a sense of belonging for everyone called Building the Bridge of Belonging. Appalachian Kentucky Service Year Impact Community Initiative Receives $150k Through Grant Program by National Nonprofit StriveTogether<\/a><\/h2>\n

StriveTogether is a national nonprofit working to bring communities together around data to make decisions and improve results for kids. The Appalachian Kentucky Service Year Impact Community initiative will use its grant award to implement a service year model in rural areas to improve educational outcomes and reduce disparity gaps in southeastern Kentucky. Seven Organizations Named as Hubs for Results Count\u2122 Leadership Development<\/a><\/h2>\n

Partners for Education has been selected as one of eight national hubs for Results Count in partnership with the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
