ranging from one, two and three bedroom layouts.\u00a0 Each apartment is arranged in a townhouse style, with the living, dining, and kitchen area downstairs and the bedrooms, bath, and study area upstairs.[\/vc_column_text][vc_message]The rent at the Ecovillage varies according to the bedroom layout, and utilities are not included in the rent(i.e. heat, electric, water, sewer, &amp; cable).[\/vc_message][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3>The EcoVillage is reserved for:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Single parents who have full-time custody of one or more dependent children.<\/li>\n<li>A married couple \u2013 with or without children.<\/li>\n<li>Students 23 years or older.<\/li>\n<li>Bridge-Out Students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_accordion active_section=&#8221;0&#8243; collapsible_all=&#8221;true&#8221;][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;fas fa-tshirt&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; title=&#8221;Laundry&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1624913585675-ea0942c2-98c4&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Some of the apartments have a low water-use washer, but none have dryers<\/li>\n<li>All of the apartments come with a drying rack for hanging up clothes<\/li>\n<li>For those who do not have washers, the EcoVillage Commons House has a laundry room with a number of washers and dryers accessible to residents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;fas fa-seedling&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; title=&#8221;Green Living&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1624913585675-017f40ea-b247&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>There is a community garden that all residents are able to participate in.<\/li>\n<li>A Variety of fruit trees can be found throughout the inner yard, as well as in the food forest growing along Ellipse St.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section i_type=&#8221;typicons&#8221; i_icon_typicons=&#8221;typcn typcn-group&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;true&#8221; title=&#8221;Community Expectations&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1624913893572-3ab1870e-5dfb&#8221;][vc_column_text]As a tenant of the Ecovillage, you will be\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/sustainability\/campus-culture\/ecological-renovations-at-berea-college\/ecovillage-and-sustainability\/\"><strong>expected to participate in environmentally friendly practices and community building activities<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Programs that may be offered include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Composting<\/li>\n<li>Provide one educational or social program a year on sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Participation in gardening\/ landscaping\/ grounds\/ outdoor activities<\/li>\n<li>Production and distribution of green cleaning products<\/li>\n<li>Participation in governance or leadership of Ecovillage Association<\/li>\n<li>Babysitting at program events<\/li>\n<li>Apartment Maintenance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Involvement in such programs for student families can be an important aspect of raising socially and environmentally conscious children.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][\/vc_tta_accordion][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=&#8221;1680&#8243; img_size=&#8221;500&#215;700&#8243; alignment=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]When you receive the application for the Ecovillage in the mail, you should return it as soon as possible, along with the application for the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/cdl\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Child Development Lab,\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>if needed, and a background check\u00a0form for yourself and for your spouse, if married.
