
{"id":879,"date":"2014-11-20T10:11:40","date_gmt":"2014-11-20T15:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.berea.edu\/sustainability\/?page_id=879"},"modified":"2020-01-23T11:06:59","modified_gmt":"2020-01-23T16:06:59","slug":"green-event","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/sustainability\/take-action\/green-event\/","title":{"rendered":"Zero Waste Events Forms and Info"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_tta_accordion][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Organizing an event through Catering Services?&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1541174853699-5c7a90a7-6c27&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><strong>When ordering from BC Catering and Facilities, the following \u201cgreening\u201d practices are followed automatically:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Permanent-ware will be used for events with up to 100 attendees<\/li>\n<li>For events over 100, BC Catering uses the approved compostable disposables<\/li>\n<li>Organic and locally sourced products always available<\/li>\n<li>Indoor or outdoor recycling, composting, and trash bins accompany your order<\/li>\n<li>For events with 100+ attendees, student volunteer Recycling Ambassadors can be provided to help attendees dispose of items properly <strong>with 2 WEEKS notice<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>We encourage departments with student laborers to utilize our training program to allow for individuals to be Recycling Ambassadors for large events, email Yryskeldi Emilbek uulu to set up training (emilbekuuluy@berea.edu).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Unless the event is a campus wide event, YOU MUST contact Kevin Long (Kevin_Long@berea.edu) for pickup of trash, recycling, and compost.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Get started with the <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/sustainability\/zerowaste\/\">Zero Waste Form<\/a> here.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Organizing an individual event?&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1541174853727-4e4269c3-5493&#8243;][vc_column_text]Follow these steps to make your individual events zero waste:<\/p>\n<h3><strong>STEP 1: Do you have compostable materials for your event?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Materials must be ordered 5 working days prior to your event.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Once the order is placed, Ronnie Vanhook, Storeroom Manager with Facilities, will notify you when the order is ready for pickup, or will make arrangements with you for delivery.\u00a0 <strong>Pickup hours are Monday \u2013 Friday 8:00 AM \u2013 5:00 PM (closed noon to 1:00 PM for lunch).\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Pickup location for compostable supplies is <strong>Facilities Storeroom, 310 Main Street (across from The Farm Store).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Order compostable supplies through our <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.berea.edu\/sustainability\/zerowaste\/\">Zero Waste Form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>STEP 2: Do you have landfill, recycling, and compost bins for your event?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Events taking place in the following buildings have bins located here:\u00a0<strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Alumni Building: <\/strong>\u00a0Campus Life Office has the keys to the storage area to the bins. Please return bins to the Campus Life Office once you are finished.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stephenson Hall:<\/strong> \u00a0Bins are located under the stairs in stairwell on the first floor. \u00a0Please return to the area once you are finished.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Woods Penn:<\/strong> \u00a0Bins are located in the kitchen area. \u00a0Center for International Education office has the keys to the kitchen if locked. Please return to kitchen once you are finished.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For events taking place in other buildings, email Kevin Long (Kevin_Long@berea.edu) to have event bins set up for your event.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>STEP 3: Email Kevin Long to have compost, recycling, and trash picked up from your event.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Event waste will not be picked up unless Kevin Long is contacted to have waste picked up, email him at (Kevin_Long@berea.edu)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=&#8221;Organizing an event with an outside caterer?&#8221; tab_id=&#8221;1541175359052-07672511-c98b&#8221;][vc_column_text]Even if you elect to use a caterer other than Berea College Catering, you can still make your event green.
