Berea College’s annual Giving Day is Thursday, Sept. 1. Giving Day generates support for Berea’s students with contributions coming from donors locally, regionally and nationally.

Berea College’s mission is to provide opportunity for students of all races, primarily from Appalachia, who have great promise and limited economic resources. Because no Berea College student pays tuition, donations from Giving Day help offset the cost of education for these students.

“Berea Giving Day is a chance for our community to come together to support Berea College students, making dreams come true by providing them with life-changing experiences and opportunities to chase their dreams without the burden of tuition,” said Berea College President Lyle Roelofs. “Simply put, Giving Day is an investment in their futures.”

Donors can support Berea Giving Day by making a gift online at legacy.berea.edu/givingday or by texting BEREA to 1-833-944-2807. Donors can also mail a check to CPO 2216, Berea, KY 40404.

Berea College, the first interracial and coeducational college in the South, focuses on learning, labor and service. The College only admits academically promising students with limited financial resources—primarily from Kentucky and Appalachia—but welcomes students from 41 states and 76 countries. Every Berea student receives a Tuition Promise Scholarship, which means no Berea student pays for tuition. Berea is one of nine federally recognized Work Colleges, so students work 10 hours or more weekly to earn money for books, housing and meals. The College’s motto, “God has made of one blood all peoples of the earth,” speaks to its inclusive Christian character.
