William S. (Bill) Daugherty was elected in April to serve on the Berea College Board of Trustees for a term beginning July 1.
A 1976 Berea College alumnus and recipient of Berea’s 2017 Distinguished Alumnus Award, Daugherty is a co-founder and serves as a Managing Partner of BlackRidge Resource Partners LLC, an independent exploration and production company with oil and gas production in Kentucky, Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma and Wyoming.
“As an alumnus, I have always been grateful for the opportunities Berea College afforded me and the solid foundation I received for my future,” said Daugherty. “I look forward to giving back by serving as a contributing member of the Board of Trustees.”
Before co-founding BlackRidge, Daugherty was President and CEO of NGAS Resources, Inc, a NASDAQ-listed company focused on oil and natural gas in the Appalachian Basin. In 1984, Daugherty founded Daugherty Petroleum, Inc.—the predecessor company to NGAS—and served as its President and CEO from then through 2005 and as Chairman of the Board until April 2011.
Throughout his career, Daugherty has actively served as a volunteer and appointee to a number of state and national organizations. He was president of two Kentucky oil and gas trade organizations and a member of the Board of Directors of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. He currently serves as the Kentucky Governor’s Official Representative to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission, a compact formed by Congress to represent all the producing oil and gas states in the United States. Daugherty formerly served on the Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association’s President’s Council and Board of Visitors, the Department of Energy’s Unconventional Resources Technology Advisory Committee, and Eastern Kentucky University’s Foundation Board.
Daugherty is also a co-founder and a Managing Partner of BlackRidge Stables LLC, a thoroughbred racing and breeding venture that owns interests in several horses.
