Torrential storms during the last week of February and the first week of March 2021 have lead to historical flooding in Eastern Kentucky counties. Here are some photos of the damage around the area. Businesses, homes, institutions, and community gathering places have been damaged, destroyed, or declared total losses. Berea College is working with folks in the region to help those effected. Below you can find more information about where and how to help.

From Grow Appalachia:

Here is a Google Doc full of places that are accepting donations, both monetary and physical goods.  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xelpUe3YyG0H9vt-ZZY3pcDDAyaH6VWokxJPzf0YVS8/edit#gid=0. This was put together by the group Appalachians for Appalachia organization.

From Brushy Fork:

  1. Estill County: A close partner to Brushy Fork recommends that donations in Estill go through the Steam Heritage Corporation’s flood fund that is on the Estill Development Alliance web page: https://www.estill.org/flood.html.
