Bio

Kat (she/her/hers) resides in Somerset with her wife (’11), 4 cats, and dog. While a student at Berea College (’12) she majored in Women’s Studies and was awarded the Nancy Stewart Hindman Award for academic excellence in the department. She served on SGA’s Sexual Assault Committee, founded the Committee to End Rape on Campus, joined the cohort who marched at Occupy Wall Street, and was a member of Women’s Chorus. She worked in Residence Life and as an administrative assistant in both the music and WGS departments.

After graduation, Kat went on to work in higher education support for several years before shifting into domestic violence shelter services through the AmeriCorps Economic Empowerment Program, where she was named a KY State Ambassador. In 2020, she obtained her Master’s in Public Administration from Murray State University.

Kat currently serves as president of PFLAG Somerset KY, founder and lead organizer of Chill Out & Proud Somerset, treasurer of Watershed Arts Alliance, and co-founding member of the Lake Cumberland Diversity Council. In her spare time she enjoys games, festivals, and streaming music with her wife as part of their duo ‘Mrs & Mrs.’
