A Jesuit priest and author or editor of 25 books on non-violence, Fr. Dear has been at the forefront of the religious peace movement in the U. S. In 2008 he was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and in 2009 he was awarded the Abbey Peace Courage of Conscience Award for his solidarity and leadership in non-violent resistance and his Gospel living.
