Bridging Musical Cultures

September 11, 2014, 3:00 p.m.

Foot-stomping, hip-swinging sounds organically unite Appalachian folk and Latin music performed by Kentucky musicians and Latin emigrants from Ecuador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. Guitar, mandolin, bass, and charango strings blend with indigenous Andean flutes, hand percussion, harmonica, and vocal harmonies. Co-sponsored with Frances and Louise Hutchins Center for International Education (CIE).
