Visit Guidelines & FAQs

Pandemic Guidelines

Regarding COVID-19 – Masks are currently optional for guests on-campus and encouraged in larger group settings. We ask that you do not attend your upcoming visit or event at Berea College if you or anyone in your party is not feeling well or showing any COVID-19 symptoms, regardless of vaccination status or a negative test. We will do everything we can to reschedule your on-campus visit, provide you with a virtual visit, or share event highlights with you if you must cancel attending an Admissions Office visit or event.

On-Campus Visits occur regularly Monday through Friday. Space is limited and may vary depending on Admissions Office or Berea College events. To reserve a campus visit or learn more about visit options, call 1-800-326-5948 or email campusvisits@berea.edu.

There are no weekend on campus visits available.

Upon arrival for an on-campus visit, please park in the Admissions Parking Lot (Directions) and then enter through the front door of the Haaga House.

For the safety of all, we expect visitors and our staff and students to be symptom -free from COVID-19 or any other easily transmissible illnesses (cold/flu). If you suspect that you have COVID-19 or if you have been exposed to someone who has been sick, please reschedule your visit. You will receive a text prior to arrival asking you to confirm that you and your guests are symptom-free.

Yes! You and other guests will have a 20-minute information session in our Presentation Room with one of our Admissions staff members while on campus.

We have a packet just for you! It literally has your name on it.

We provide sanitized ListenTalk audio devices to every visitor at no cost. Our student tour guide wears a microphone and transmitter and every guest wears a receiver/transmitter so you will hear and be heard on the tour. (Don’t worry, we will show you how to work these.) Please bring your own (3.5MM jack) headphones or earbuds. Let us know at check-in if you do not have headphones or earbuds with you, and we will provide these for you.

The on-campus tour is currently restricted to no more than 2-3 families per tour guide.

All guests are welcome to choose for themselves if they would like to socially distance regardless of vaccination status. We strongly recommend that unvaccinated guests– or those with concerns for safety – observe social distancing.

On-campus visitors will be able to see critical buildings that are important to the student experience. These include our dining services, classrooms, a residence hall, our workout facility, and the library.

We will be outside for the majority of the tour. Many of our guests comment that they wish they had checked the weather and come better prepared for the conditions that day. Pro tip: search for 40404 on weather.com. No matter the forecast, wear comfortable walking shoes.

  • Any application components that you want to drop off while you are in town
  • Personal headphones or earbuds for our ListenTalk devices (wired and with a 3.5MM jack) if desired, we will provide sanitized headsets upon arrival.
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Umbrella and/or jacket (if needed)
  • Water (optional)

We prioritize the health and safety of our guests and student ambassadors. If the weather is dangerous with thunderstorms or excessive temperatures, we will cancel the walking tour and work to provide alternatives for our on campus guests. If we know in advance that we will most likely have to cancel a tour, we will call you to provide alternative visit dates. We use guidance from OSHA and the National Weather Service to determine weather safety.

Absolutely – as long as your counselor is available. Please let us know if this is something you would like to do before your visit so we can ensure the best availability possible.
