COVID-19 Update: September 6, 2022

Dear Bereans,

This is the update for Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Quarantine update

As of this morning, we have four students in quarantine having tested positive, two on campus and two at their homes. We have two on-campus employees quarantining with positive tests and three positive employees who work remotely.  The on-campus Bereans who have tested positive work in Lincoln Hall and Stephenson Hall.  (These numbers represent a slight improvement from last week.)

Kentucky update

The number of new reported cases in the Commonwealth continues to hover in the 12,000 to 14,000 per week range:  12,830 for this past week.  That is about 1830 new cases per day.  The test positivity rate remains very high; for the past week it was 18.40% down from 20.07% last week.  The number of deaths in the state is holding pretty steady, 78 this past week, vs. 76 the week before (i.e., about 11/day) in the Commonwealth.

COVID-19 Community Level

Madison County’s COVID community level remains in the “Yellow” designation, and our neighboring counties, Jackson, Rockcastle and Estill, are in “Yellow,” too.  Other adjacent counties are “Red.”  Overall, we seem to be in a bit of a holding pattern state-wide.

With no real change in the situation, the AC is not making any policy adjustments.  We do thank Bereans for all the care being taken; it seems to be working well on campus.
