COVID-19 Update: October 10, 2022

Dear Bereans,

This is the update for Monday, October 10, 2022.  I hope that everyone is enjoying Reading Period and best wishes to all students on mid-terms.

Quarantine update

Currently, we have just one student in quarantine, and that person is quarantining at home.  Also, this week, we have only one on-campus employee quarantining with positive tests.  That Berean works in Facilities.

COVID-19 Community Level

As of last Friday Madison County’s COVID community level remained for another week in the “Green” designation.  Of our neighboring counties Jackson and Rockcastle remain “Green,” too, and Estill County is now also “Green”  Considerably more than half the counties in the Commonwealth are now in the “Green” and there are only 9 counties remaining in “Red”, all in the Eastern part of the state.

Kentucky update

The number of new reported cases in the Commonwealth continues to improve with 3392 cases in the past week compared to 3979 in the preceding week.  The test positivity rate remains close to 8.0%, similar to last week. After decreasing significantly last week, the number of deaths in the state in the most recent week increased to 81 from 61.  That’s about 12 Kentuckians we are losing to COVID still every day.

Vaccination

It is still a great idea to protect yourself and lessen the severity of future surges on campus by seeking the updated COVID vaccine, now available to everyone over 12 years old.
