Summer Connections
First-Year Initiatives host a one-day event for incoming students and their families twice in the month of June. Students get to connect with faculty, staff and their peers while learning more about the Berea College experience. Summer Connections is focused on connecting incoming students to campus culture, expectations and familiarizing themselves with Berea through various workshops.
Orientation Week
Orientation Week is filled with activities aimed at helping first-year students make a smooth transition to their new home, and introducing them to the people and places that can help with their success. The first day first-year students will begin the morning by moving into their residence hall with the assistance of our student Orientation Team, a group of upper-class students. On move-in day Faculty, administrators, and alumni will participate to make your move to Berea a pleasant one. In the afternoon students and their families will attend the Ceremony of Dedication, the Ceremony is a call of dedication to our community of learning and a celebration of the special purposes and traditions of Berea College. Following the ceremony, families will have the opportunity to say their goodbyes to students before they begin their trip home. Students will continue with Orientation Week activities by attending dinner with their advisor, residence hall meetings and various opportunities to get involved on campus before classes begin.
