About Amelia:

What is one thing you wish you had known when  you first started college?

“I wish I had known to not be so anxious about making mistakes. Much of my learning was hampered because I was self-conscious about not getting an answer quite right in class. The classroom is a time to make mistakes openly, unabashedly, and without shame: that is how you learn. Seize this special opportunity in life to learn through trial and error while you have a support system built in to help you back up in case you fall.”

If  you had to pick three words to describe yourself, what would they be?

“Creative, caring, and curious: I love crafting and learning new methods of creating projects. I am invested in the well-being and safety of others. I am also curious about the ‘why’ – this can be how two seemingly disparate things are related to understanding another person’s viewpoint.”

What is your favorite spot on campus?

“The Great Commitments Garden – I love seeing the bees!”

What is one quote you live by?

“Live. For now. For the time being.” – Ruth Ozeki, A Tale for the Time Being
