The Berea community responded generously to the 26th annual Hunger Hurts Food Drive with 792 bags of food. The 26th annual Hunger Hurts Food Drive, coordinated by Berea College’s Center for Excellence in Learning through Service (CELTS), in collaboration with Berea Faith Community Outreach (BFCO), runs from Oct. 27 to Nov. 3, 2018.

Hunger Hurts Food Drive Celebrates 24 Years of Giving Back to the Community
Annual Hunger Hurts Food Drive, coordinated by Berea College’s Center for Excellence in Learning through Service (CELTS), in collaboration with Berea Faith Community Outreach (BFCO), will run from October 22 to 29, 2016.
Beginning on October 22nd, volunteers will distribute brown paper bags, donated by Kroger, to local households. Community members can help by filling the bags with non-perishable food and toiletry items and placing them near their front door by 9 a.m. on October 29th, for volunteers to pick up. Berea College CELTS, Ceramic Student Volunteers and Dining Services Present 2016 Empty Bowls Event
Berea residents can help address local hunger needs on Wednesday, March 30 by participating in the annual Empty Bowls event and meal.
The Empty Bowls event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Commons, located in the Woods-Penniman Building on the Berea College campus. The idea behind Empty Bowls is simple – in exchange for $10, guests will be served a meal of soup in a ceramic bowl made and donated by Berea College ceramics student volunteers or local potters.
