Biography

Berea’s new Appalachian Writer in Residence Jacinda Townsend. Jacinda is the author of Saint Monkey, a novel set in 1950’s Eastern Kentucky which won the Janet Heidinger Kafka Prize and James Fenimore Cooper Prize for historical fiction. She received her MFA from Iowa Writer’s Workshop and went on to spend a year as a Fulbright fellow in Côte d’Ivoire.
