This will be a LJAC Dinner on the Grounds with Robert Walker who will be presenting on the deep, causative factors – the underlying structures that affect the shape of human lives which result in prevalent substance use in Appalachia. These structures include the geology and geography of the area, poverty and social deprivation, and human neurophysiological responses to distress.

Robert Walker, M.S.W., L.C.S.W., is an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Science at the University of Kentucky and works at the Center on Drug and Alcohol Research. He has over 25 years of experience in the community mental health system and has over 80 publications.

Free and open to the public. A light lunch will be provided.
