Dance Events

Berea offers a wide range of dance opportunities, both performances and participatory dance events, on and off campus. Many on-campus performances are open to the public as well as the college community. Please see the page “Clubs and Organizations” for dance opportunities limited to Berea College students.

Every semester, dance classes and dance groups attend performances by professional dance companies, and a professional dance company occasionally performs on the college convocation series. Each year the Artists in Modern Motion (AIMM – formerly Modern Dance Troupe) hosts guest artists who teach classes and stage works for the Kinetic Expressions concert. The Country Dancers tour regionally, nationally, and internationally, and love to share traditional dancing with area schools and host street dances for the public. Berea Middle Eastern Dance performs at local festivals and conferences.

During Black History Month, many dance groups, led by the EYCE Step Team, perform in Rep Your City, a part of the Carter G. Woodson weekend welcoming high school students visiting Berea College. Every fall, all nine dance groups collaborate to produce Berea Dances!, an inspiring and energetic celebration of dance in all its diverse forms.
