Accessing Your Web Space

A Web browser or any FTP software may be used to access your Web space on our servers. You may use the suggested software listed below, a Web browser, or any other FTP software you prefer.

Suggested FTP Software

A large list of free FTP software can be found at Download.com as well as other Web sites. Listed below are some suggestions to get you started.

  • Dreamweaver (For PC or Mac)
Dreamweaver has its own built-in FTP software that makes managing your Web site much easier than using separate programs for designing and uploading. We recommend you check the resources available in our library or the Web for Dreamweaver.
  • WS_FTP (For PCs only)
This FTP software product has been used throughout the years, and first became known due to its being free. You may download a free version from its official Web site.
  • Fetch (For Macs only)
This FTP software product has been used through the years on Macs. It was once free to all users, but is now free only to educational or charitable use. You may download a version from its official Web site.

For any software you use, you will need to enter your FTP account settings. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any help with the software you choose to use. We recommend you use its Help feature or search the Web for assistance.

Using a Browser to Access Your Web Space

You may use a Web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox for FTP access. To do so, perform the following actions in your browser:

  1. In the address bar, type ftp.berea.edu
  2. A window will appear asking for your username and password. Enter them and click Okay.
  3. Drag and drop files as you normally do in your operating system environment.

Please note that this method may only work in certain browsers and operating systems. We recommend that you try Internet Explorer on a PC for this method, which has been proven to work.
