Now, in addition to many food stations in the Mountaineer Dining Room, Berea College students have another on-campus option at the new Wholly Habañeros Café. The new eatery serves fresh Mexican-style foods including a selection of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and nachos that can be customized with various toppings. Located on the first floor of the Woods-Penniman building, the new Wholly Habañeros Café is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wholly Habañeros is associated with food services corporation Sodexo USA, which also manages Berea Dining Services. Alumnus David McHargue ’90, who directs Berea Dining Services, was instrumental in bringing this new dining concept from Sodexo to Berea’s campus. At the recent grand opening, McHargue wielded giant wooden scissors to cut the ceremonial ribbon at the Café. Representatives from the Berea Chamber of Commerce and Sodexo took part in the ribbon-cutting.
