Nine Berea College Students Achieve Awards at Kentucky Academy of Science Annual Meeting

Nine Berea College students received awards at the Kentucky Academy of Science (KAS) Annual Meeting held earlier this month at Western Kentucky University. More than 600 scientists and students attended the KAS meeting, and hundreds of students from Kentucky and regional colleges and universities participated in the research competitions. Berea College Faculty and Students Garner Awards

Dr. Ralph Thompson, recently retired Berea College professor of botany, and 45 Berea College students received awards at the recent 2014 Kentucky Academy of Sciences (KAS) symposium in Lexington.

Dr. Thompson was awarded the “Distinguished College/University Scientist Superlative Award” at the recent Kentucky Academy of Science (KAS) symposium. Bereans earn honors from KY Academy of Science

During the Kentucky Academy of Science’s 99th annual meeting, Berea College faculty and students earned 17 awards, including eight first-place awards, tying Northern Kentucky University for the most first-place awards in Kentucky.

Since 1913 the Kentucky Academy of Science Annual Meeting has provided a venue for Kentucky’s scientists and student scientist to publicly present their research before more than 800 attendees. Continue reading Bereans earn honors from KY Academy of Science
