Dr. John HibbingDr. John Hibbing, a Political Science professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, will speak at Berea College on October 27, 2016, at 3:00pm in Phelps Stokes Chapel. Hibbing will discuss recent research on deep differences across the political spectrum, as well as understanding some distinctions that might pave the way for a less polarized political system. Gyude Moore, a 2006 graduate of Berea College, will be the speaker at this year’s Service Convocation, March 24 at 3:00 p.m., in Phelps Stokes Chapel. Moore, who was a political science major at Berea, now is the Minister of Public Works in the administration of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in his home country, the Republic of Liberia. Berea Students Honored by Kentucky Political Science Association

On March 3, three of Berea’s students gave presentations at the Kentucky Political Science Association’s 50th Annual Conference that was held at Western Kentucky University and hosted by current KPSA president, Dr. Saundra C. Ardrey. During this event several awards, including the Distinguished Political Scientist Award, the David Hughes Memorial Award and the Abdul H. Rifai Award, were given to undergraduate and graduate students. For the 2011 conference, one of those awards, the Abdul H. Rifai Award was granted to Ahmad Shuja,’12, making him the 12th Berea College recipient out of the 22 acknowledgments given since the award was first established.
