Biography
Lexi Bass is a filmmaker, artist, and maker of things. Whether creating imagery with Mordançage-processed silver prints, foam board masks, fallen tree branches, or light, her work is always a deep analysis of the damaged psyche and the transformation of a suffering identity to one that transcends its suffering by naming its own changing shape. Her work is quietly contrarian, a feminist response to an industry born of the male gaze at the tipping point of women’s repression and subsequent (ongoing) liberation. These pieces are an attempt to engender consciousness, to reveal unconsciousness in the Jungian sense, and to heal wounds in dark places.
