Berea College Student Autumn Harvey Named a Newman Civic Fellow

Harvey joins 212 students from 39 states, Washington, D.C., and Mexico, to form the 2021 Newman Civic Fellow cohort.

Shyeila “Shy” Bowers, a junior at Berea College, is one of 262 students named as a Newman Civic Fellow for 2019-2020 by Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit organization advancing the public purposes of higher education.

“Shy is a hard-working and positive student leader and undergraduate scholar,” said Berea College President Lyle Roelofs. “She uses her community-building approaches to promote dialogue and action to address pressing social issues.”

Berea College Student Honored as 2018 Newman Civic Fellow

Hunter MaloneBerea College student Hunter Malone has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based, non-profit organization working to advance the public purposes of higher education. Malone, a junior sociology major with a history minor, is one of 268 students from colleges all across America who will make up the organization’s 2018 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows.

“Hunter is a creative and collaborative student leader who is actively involved in mentoring and training others,” said Berea College President Lyle Roelofs. “He is also committed to developing opportunities for others to learn and take action on the issues that are important to them.
